About Your Insurance

From 1 July 2005 every practising Victorian barrister is required to maintain professional indemnity insurance for the primary layer of $2 million with the LPLC. This follows the relevant provisions of the Legal Profession Act 2004 and a resolution of the Bar Council on 16 December 2004

Premiums

Premiums for the Insurance period 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012
If you signed the Bar roll before 1 May 2010, the premium is calculated by reference to the gross fee receipts (exclusive of GST but inclusive of clerk’s commission) for the year ended 30 June 2010.
If you signed the Bar roll after 1 May 2010, your premium is calculated by reference to the estimated gross fee income (exclusive of GST but inclusive of your clerk’s commission) for the year ended 30 June 2012.

Premiums will not be adjusted during the insurance year.
